SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

See the treatment chain before you read the specs.

Water enters at the main line, moves through each treatment stage, and then feeds the entire house. The exact hardware varies by model, but the comparison logic stays the same.

SYSTEM TYPE

Whole-house filter

① Pretreatment

Sediment or spin-down filtration protects downstream media when required.

② Main treatment

Carbon, specialty media, ion exchange, oxidation or another primary treatment stage.

③ Optional stages

Softening, salt-free conditioning, UV or polishing filters may be separate components.

OWNERSHIP REALITY

What you replace, what it costs, and what the warranty actually covers.

Routine maintenance

The TC Filter periodically backwashes/regenerates its media bed. RainSoft notes one to two regenerations per week can be typical depending on water use and conditions, and recommends valve cleaning about every three years or earlier if needed.

Major replacement

Filter media is replaceable (RainSoft replacement media part 19026). Media service life is not warranted and depends on incoming water conditions and usage.

Warranty details

RainSoft's current TC-FLT H manual states the treatment tank and valve are warranted against manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the original retail purchaser. Electrical parts are warranted for five years and pro-rata for an additional five years. Filter media is not warranted. Labor, installation and transportation are excluded.

ORIGIN & MANUFACTURING

Where this system is actually made.

FilterTier distinguishes headquarters, design, manufacturing and final assembly. When an exact model's origin is not publicly confirmed, we say that instead of guessing.

Whole-home water-treatment systems are assembled in the USA; RainSoft also promotes U.S.-made water-conditioning systems.

WHY IT MATTERS

Country-of-origin can affect buyer preference, serviceability, parts availability and perceived manufacturing quality — but it is scored separately from filtration performance.

FILTERTIER PRICE TRACKER

What it actually costs — not what the fake sale badge says.

We track observed selling prices over time and compare today's price with the system's normal range. Crossed-out MSRP and perpetual “50% off” labels do not count as meaningful savings.

LAST CHECKED

How to read this price

A big “discount” does not automatically mean a good deal.

If a system is almost always sold at 40–55% off MSRP, FilterTier treats that sale price as the normal market price and judges value from there.

INSTALLATION CONTEXT

Think about the system in your mechanical room — not just on a product page.

Before your plumber orders it, confirm:

• Main-line size and connection diameter • Available service flow and incoming pressure • Drain requirement / backwash routing • Electrical outlet or UV/controller power • Tank/cartridge replacement clearance • Bypass and isolation valves • Pressure gauges before/after restrictive stages • Floor drain / leak protection where appropriate

FilterTier rule

The best treatment spec is still the wrong purchase if it cannot be installed, serviced, or supplied with enough flow in your actual house.
