Homes with roughly 1–3 bathrooms that want salt-free scale conditioning rather than ion-exchange softening, have hardness below APEC's stated 25 grains per gallon limit, and can stay within the 10 GPM flow rating.
SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
Water enters at the main line, moves through each treatment stage, and then feeds the entire house. The exact hardware varies by model, but the comparison logic stays the same.
SYSTEM TYPE
Salt-free conditioner
Sediment or spin-down filtration protects downstream media when required.
Carbon, specialty media, ion exchange, oxidation or another primary treatment stage.
Softening, salt-free conditioning, UV or polishing filters may be separate components.

Published replacement life
FUTURA-10 does not use salt, backwashing, regeneration, electricity or a drain. APEC's current specifications call for conditioner-media replacement about every 3–5 years. Protect the system from freezing and install indoors as recommended. The current package includes a 10-inch carbon prefilter; service that cartridge separately according to its loading and treatment performance.
The main scheduled long-cycle service is replacement of the salt-free conditioner media about every 3–5 years per APEC's current specifications. The mineral tank, bypass and fittings are not routine replacement items. Actual service needs can vary with source-water chemistry and operating conditions.
APEC's current whole-house warranty covers FUTURA systems for 10 years on tanks, valves, in/out non-electric heads, bypasses and fittings against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. Standard exclusions and claim conditions apply. The current FUTURA product page also advertises a 10-year limited warranty.
FUTURA-10 is a scale conditioner, not a true water softener: it does not remove calcium and magnesium from the water the way ion exchange does. APEC rates it for hardness below 25 gpg (420 mg/L) and specifies feed-water limits including pH 6–9, chlorine up to 2 ppm, and zero iron and manganese. Homes with measurable iron/manganese, harder water, or simultaneous demand above 10 GPM should not assume this model is a fit without pretreatment or different sizing. APEC also recommends indoor installation and protection from freezing.
ORIGIN & MANUFACTURING
FilterTier distinguishes headquarters, design, manufacturing and final assembly. When an exact model's origin is not publicly confirmed, we say that instead of guessing.

RESEARCH STATUS
Verified current APEC FUTURA-10-FG product page and whole-house warranty: 1–3 bathroom sizing, 10 GPM flow, 1-inch FPT, salt-free scale-conditioning mechanism, max hardness 25 gpg, current 3–5 year media replacement specification, feed-water limits, current $1,099.99 sold-out status and 10-year covered-component warranty. Explicitly classified as conditioning rather than true softening.
APEC explicitly says FUTURA is designed and engineered in the USA with high-performance parts, but the current exact-product materials reviewed do not clearly state that the complete FUTURA-10-FG is manufactured or assembled entirely in the USA.

WHY IT MATTERS
Country-of-origin can affect buyer preference, serviceability, parts availability and perceived manufacturing quality — but it is scored separately from filtration performance.
FILTERTIER PRICE TRACKER
We track observed selling prices over time and compare today's price with the system's normal range. Crossed-out MSRP and perpetual “50% off” labels do not count as meaningful savings.

LAST CHECKED
October 2, 2026
Manufacturer-direct APEC price observed at $1,099.99 on 2026-10-02; product page showed sold out when checked. FilterTier does not infer a discount from a missing/unclear regular price.
If a system is almost always sold at 40–55% off MSRP, FilterTier treats that sale price as the normal market price and judges value from there.
INSTALLATION CONTEXT
• Main-line size and connection diameter • Available service flow and incoming pressure • Drain requirement / backwash routing • Electrical outlet or UV/controller power • Tank/cartridge replacement clearance • Bypass and isolation valves • Pressure gauges before/after restrictive stages • Floor drain / leak protection where appropriate
The best treatment spec is still the wrong purchase if it cannot be installed, serviced, or supplied with enough flow in your actual house.
