Well-water homes with roughly 1–2 bathrooms and tested source water within APEC's published treatment envelope: up to 10 ppm iron, 3 ppm hydrogen sulfide, 5 ppm manganese, pH 5–9, with household demand compatible with the model's 5 GPM rating.
SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
Water enters at the main line, moves through each treatment stage, and then feeds the entire house. The exact hardware varies by model, but the comparison logic stays the same.
SYSTEM TYPE
Iron/hydrogen-sulfide filter
Sediment or spin-down filtration protects downstream media when required.
Carbon, specialty media, ion exchange, oxidation or another primary treatment stage.
Softening, salt-free conditioning, UV or polishing filters may be separate components.

IRON-HYDRO-10 uses an electronic time-clock/control valve and regular water-only backwashing, so it needs electrical power and a drain. Confirm the control/backwash cycle is operating correctly and monitor iron staining, sulfur odor and pressure. APEC says no chemical regenerant is required when source-water oxidation conditions are suitable, but its ORP guidance says water below -170 mV requires additional upstream oxidant.
The MEDIA-IRON manganese-dioxide bed is the major long-cycle service item. APEC describes media life as up to 5+ years when properly backwashed or at lower contaminant concentrations, not as a guaranteed interval. High contaminant loading or unfavorable ORP can shorten life or require pretreatment/oxidation.
APEC's current whole-house warranty covers IRON-HYDRO systems for 10 years on tanks, valves, in/out non-electric heads, bypasses and fittings and five years on solid-state electronic heads where applicable. Standard exclusions and claim conditions apply. The current IRON-HYDRO product page also advertises a 10-year limited warranty.
Start with a proper water test and ORP reading. APEC says IRON-HYDRO can operate without additional oxidants when ORP is above -170 mV, while readings below -170 mV require additional oxidation upstream. Treatment limits are manufacturer specifications, not unlimited removal guarantees. The WQA/NSF 61 statement on APEC's page applies to the media/material safety claim; it should not be read as a whole-system contaminant-reduction certification. This system does not soften hardness, and it requires electrical power, a drain and regular backwashing.
ORIGIN & MANUFACTURING
FilterTier distinguishes headquarters, design, manufacturing and final assembly. When an exact model's origin is not publicly confirmed, we say that instead of guessing.

RESEARCH STATUS
Verified current APEC IRON-HYDRO-10-FG product page and whole-house warranty: 1–2 bathroom positioning, 5 GPM, 1-inch MNPT, MEDIA-IRON high-manganese-dioxide bed, published 10 ppm iron / 3 ppm H2S / 5 ppm manganese treatment limits, pH 5–9, ORP threshold, power + drain backwash requirements, up-to-5+ year media-life statement, current $1,499.99 sold-out status and split 10-year/5-year component warranty.
APEC states its whole-house systems are designed and engineered in the USA, but current IRON-HYDRO-10-FG materials reviewed do not clearly state that the complete system is manufactured or assembled entirely in the USA.

WHY IT MATTERS
Country-of-origin can affect buyer preference, serviceability, parts availability and perceived manufacturing quality — but it is scored separately from filtration performance.
FILTERTIER PRICE TRACKER
We track observed selling prices over time and compare today's price with the system's normal range. Crossed-out MSRP and perpetual “50% off” labels do not count as meaningful savings.

LAST CHECKED
October 2, 2026
Manufacturer-direct APEC price observed at $1,499.99 on 2026-10-02; product page showed sold out when checked. FilterTier does not infer a discount from a missing/unclear regular price.
If a system is almost always sold at 40–55% off MSRP, FilterTier treats that sale price as the normal market price and judges value from there.
INSTALLATION CONTEXT
• Main-line size and connection diameter • Available service flow and incoming pressure • Drain requirement / backwash routing • Electrical outlet or UV/controller power • Tank/cartridge replacement clearance • Bypass and isolation valves • Pressure gauges before/after restrictive stages • Floor drain / leak protection where appropriate
The best treatment spec is still the wrong purchase if it cannot be installed, serviced, or supplied with enough flow in your actual house.
