TOTAL-SOLUTION-15-FG

City-water homes with roughly 3–6 bathrooms that want whole-house catalytic-carbon treatment plus salt-free scale conditioning and a dedicated WQA-marketed RO-Hi drinking-water system at the kitchen. Best fit is hardness below APEC's 25 gpg limit and households comfortable with a drain/power requirement for the 12 GPM backwashing carbon stage.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

See the treatment chain before you read the specs.

Water enters at the main line, moves through each treatment stage, and then feeds the entire house. The exact hardware varies by model, but the comparison logic stays the same.

SYSTEM TYPE

Whole-house filter + salt-free conditioner + point-of-use RO

① Pretreatment

Sediment or spin-down filtration protects downstream media when required.

② Main treatment

Carbon, specialty media, ion exchange, oxidation or another primary treatment stage.

③ Optional stages

Softening, salt-free conditioning, UV or polishing filters may be separate components.

MAIN FILTER LIFE
Stage-specific service: plan conservatively around 5–8 years for the WTS-MAX catalytic-carbon media; the current exact TOTAL-SOLUTION-15 page says FUTURA-15 conditioner media lasts many years but does not publish a precise numeric replacement interval; RO-Hi prefilters are designed for roughly 12+ months while its RO membrane and post-carbon filter are typically 3–5 years.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY TREATS

Contaminant performance and evidence.

PFAS REDUCTION
Point-of-use RO-Hi stage only; do not interpret as whole-house PFAS treatment.
PFAS EVIDENCE
Point-of-use only: APEC's current RO-Hi page lists PFAS, PFOA and PFOS among claimed removals and labels RO-Hi WQA Certified. FilterTier has not independently matched that wording to a current WQA certification listing/standard for these exact PFAS claims.
VOC REDUCTION
Whole-house APEC manufacturer claim via WTS-MAX-15 catalytic-carbon stage; point-of-use RO-Hi has separate APEC/WQA-marketed contaminant claims.
CHLORINE REDUCTION
Whole-house APEC manufacturer claim via WTS-MAX-15 catalytic-carbon stage.
CHLORAMINE REDUCTION
Whole-house APEC manufacturer claim via WTS-MAX-15 catalytic-carbon stage.
CONNECTION SIZE
1 in. whole-house tank stages; RO-Hi point-of-use uses 1/2 or 3/8 in. input and 3/8 in. output
OWNERSHIP REALITY

What you replace, what it costs, and what the warranty actually covers.

Routine maintenance

TOTAL-SOLUTION-15 combines three different systems. WTS-MAX-15 automatically backwashes and therefore needs electrical power, a drain and correct control programming; monitor the backwash/control head and plan long-cycle carbon-media service. FUTURA-15 needs no salt, regeneration, backwashing or electricity, but its conditioner media is eventually replaced; the current exact combo page does not publish a precise interval. For the RO-Hi point-of-use stage, replace the sediment/carbon prefilters about annually and the membrane/post-carbon stages about every 3–5 years under APEC's current replacement-filter guidance.

Major replacement

The package does not have one universal replacement interval. Major long-cycle items are the WTS-MAX catalytic-carbon bed, the FUTURA-15 conditioner media and the RO-Hi membrane/post-carbon stage. APEC's current RO-Hi complete replacement set (FILTER-MAX90-38) groups the five RO stages; current APEC guidance says the prefilters last over 12 months while the membrane and post-carbon filter last about 3–5 years.

Warranty details

APEC's current Total Solution warranty section states 10-year limited coverage for whole-house tanks, valves, in/out non-electric heads, bypasses and fittings; five years for solid-state electronic heads; and one year for the included residential reverse-osmosis system. Standard exclusions and claim conditions apply.

FilterTier watchouts

This package does not provide true whole-house ion-exchange softening; the FUTURA stage conditions scale while calcium and magnesium remain in the water. The RO-Hi is point-of-use, so its PFAS and other contaminant claims should not be interpreted as whole-house treatment. APEC's current exact TOTAL-SOLUTION-15 page also contains copy/spec-table errors: the detailed stage sections identify WTS-MAX-15 and FUTURA-15, while the table heading/stage labels incorrectly reference the 10-FG family even though the 3–6 bathroom flow values shown are 12 GPM and 15 GPM. FilterTier uses the model-specific 15-series stage descriptions and current standalone component ratings rather than copying those mislabeled table headings.

ORIGIN & MANUFACTURING

Where this system is actually made.

FilterTier distinguishes headquarters, design, manufacturing and final assembly. When an exact model's origin is not publicly confirmed, we say that instead of guessing.

RESEARCH STATUS

Verified current APEC TO-SOLUTION-15-FG exact product page, WTS-MAX-15 component evidence, RO-Hi current product/replacement-filter pages and current Total Solution warranty: 3–6 bathroom positioning, WTS-MAX-15 + FUTURA-15 + RO-Hi architecture, 12 GPM carbon-stage service / 16 GPM component peak, current $2,549.95 sold-out status, current exact-page table-label errors documented, stage-specific service intervals, 25 gpg hardness limit and mixed 10-year/5-year/1-year warranty.

Origin detail

APEC's current Total Solution 15 page says all three systems in the package are designed and engineered in the USA with high-performance parts. The current exact-product materials reviewed do not clearly establish that the entire multi-system package is manufactured or assembled entirely in the USA.

WHY IT MATTERS

Country-of-origin can affect buyer preference, serviceability, parts availability and perceived manufacturing quality — but it is scored separately from filtration performance.

FILTERTIER PRICE TRACKER

What it actually costs — not what the fake sale badge says.

We track observed selling prices over time and compare today's price with the system's normal range. Crossed-out MSRP and perpetual “50% off” labels do not count as meaningful savings.

How to read this price

Manufacturer-direct APEC price observed at $2,549.95 on 2026-10-02; the exact product page and current APEC collection page both showed the model sold out when checked. FilterTier does not infer a discount from a missing/unclear regular price.

A big “discount” does not automatically mean a good deal.

If a system is almost always sold at 40–55% off MSRP, FilterTier treats that sale price as the normal market price and judges value from there.

INSTALLATION CONTEXT

Think about the system in your mechanical room — not just on a product page.

Before your plumber orders it, confirm:

• Main-line size and connection diameter • Available service flow and incoming pressure • Drain requirement / backwash routing • Electrical outlet or UV/controller power • Tank/cartridge replacement clearance • Bypass and isolation valves • Pressure gauges before/after restrictive stages • Floor drain / leak protection where appropriate

FilterTier rule

The best treatment spec is still the wrong purchase if it cannot be installed, serviced, or supplied with enough flow in your actual house.
